College Honors MBank

College names its Patron Saints, and also honors MBank
Each year, Mt. Hood Community College honors an individual for his or her outstanding volunteer support and contributions to the college. This year, Peggy Johansen and Marilyn Zook have been chosen as recipients of the prestigious Patron Saint of the Year Award.
They will be presented with their awards at graduation ceremonies Friday, June 13.
Johansen has devoted a tremendous amount of time, energy, resources and expertise to the foundation since joining the board in 1995. During her years on the board, she has been instrumental in its fundraising efforts, co-chairing the annual dinner auction for four years, the car raffle in 2006 and the most recent golf scramble.
She has served on several other committees over the years. Through her efforts and leadership, tens of thousands of dollars have been raised for student scholarships and equipment purchases.
Marilyn Zook taught business classes at the college for nine years, beginning in 1970. In 1979 she became associate dean of the business and computer technology division, and volunteering for the foundation. Since 1997, Zook has served on the foundation board, its finance and scholarship committees.
More detailed profiles of the two Patron Saints will appear in a future issue of The Outlook.
The college also is honoring MBank with the college’s prestigious Community Partnership Award, which also will be presented during the graduation ceremony.
MBank was chosen to receive this year’s Community Partnership Award because of its commitment to helping the college’s foundation scholarship fundraising efforts.
Tom Perrick, president of MBank, has been actively involved on the foundation board and volunteered his time as a member of the finance and golf committees.
MBank has also been a sponsor for the annual golf tournament and the annual auction, raising thousands of dollars for student scholarships.
